Background Music Synchronization System

This is a passion project that a team of 4 researched and created a dynamic audio system that also has a beat-matching feature for the combat system in games. In this project, I worked as a sound designer and 3D artist to work closely with the programmers and animator to create the audio system, compose the background music, playtest in Unreal Engine and create the 3D environment for the demo video.

Design Ideas:

Many game studios have embraced the dynamic audio system, where background music adapts to the game's progress. Inspired by this approach, we aimed to implement a system where background music responds to the enemy's state, guiding players on when to attack or parry. Additionally, we sought to synchronize in-game actions with the beat, enhancing the overall combat experience. To achieve these goals, we are creating a two-way pipeline that seamlessly integrates audio design and combat systems, ensuring both synchronization and musicality.

Description: These are the soundtracks I composed for a continuous side project. The narrative revolves around a character navigating a futuristic laboratory constructed upon the foundation of a rebuilt church. I wanted to infuse futuristic elements into the music, maintaining an orchestral essence to evoke an epic atmosphere.

The Last Prodigy

Description: This is the soundtrack for a VR game called the Last Prodigy. Pass the final exam to become the next master of the mountain! Retrieve your mastery in kung-fu by matching poses from each past kung-fu master. The Last Prodigy is a rhythm game where players must match each upcoming Kung fu gesture.

Description: This is the soundtrack I wrote for our virtual reality game. The user has been pulled into a fantastical realm, and it is now up to him to determine whether or not to lure the next person.
